6" x 6" | Handmade book | Patterned card stock, die-cut wood
Long before satellites, people navigated by naming the sky — drawing lines between stars until scattered light became a shape, a story, a way home. This book borrows that instinct. A single die-cut wood lattice sits over the steel grey cover, its openwork tracing a night sky of asterisms, as if someone had charted the stars and then run out of scientific language for what they found there.
So the map shifts. The words Dream, Life, and Immensity are cut into the wood itself, scattered across the sky like their own small constellation. Not coordinates, but the ideas a person is trying to grasp when they look up - proof they exist, a reason to keep going, some sense of scale big enough to hold both.
Wood instead of paper for the lattice, grounding the sky in something that once grew from the earth, a reminder that the same laws holding stars in place also hold trees upright and pull books closed.
Inside, the palette quiets to shades of white and grey...a still, open space to sit with the vastness the cover names.
Materials: Patterned card stock (star motifs), die-cut wood cover overlay, steel grey and purplish tones, white and grey interior
